Review Breville BDC600XL YouBrew Drip Coffee Maker
I was going to purchase a Breville coffee grinder when I came across this unit. For about $100 more than the stand alone grinder, you get this fantastic coffee maker.
Breville has been making small home appliances since 1932. This coffee maker features Breville’s Brew IQ which is an automated control system that adjusts brew strength by increasing coffee dosage and it adjusts the flavour by increasing steeping time.
It can also automatically brew you a fresh cup or pot of coffee in the morning before you even get out of bed.

The water reservoir is placed in front of the bean hopper and is easily accessed by pressing on a spring-loaded lid that pops up smoothly. The hopper holds up to ½ pound of coffee beans.
Most drip coffee makers deliver a substandard brew because they just pass the hot water through the grounds. The YouBrew actually steeps your coffee just like a French press coffee maker does. You can adjust the steep time to last for up to 7 minutes.
Single Cup Brewing Feature
What we like the most about this coffee maker is the single cup feature. It lets you brew single cups and adjusts for 9 different cup sizes, all the way from a 5 oz cup to a large mug. You can fully customize your brew by selecting the brew strength (how much coffee gets ground up) and steeping time (how long your brew steeps for added flavour).
It’s a great alternative to all the single cup brew machines out there. What makes this a better choice is that it’s a more ecologically friendly design (no plastic to recycle) and it’s much cheaper to use because you can buy your coffee in bulk. The pods used by most single cup coffee makers are notoriously expensive. I buy Zavida brand organic coffee from Costco for about $5 a lb!
Review Breville BDC600XL YouBrew Drip Coffee Maker – The Verdict
This is an expensive coffee maker. But when you consider there’s a good quality coffee grinder built-in, it’s actually a pretty good deal. Even if you only eliminate one trip a day to your favorite coffee shop, it will pay for itself in one year. If you buy several cups of coffee every day, the Breville YouBrew will pay for itself in a few months.
